Happy Labor Day 2022 – Wishes, Greetings

Spread the love

Happy Labor Day 2022 : A holiday in the United States called Happy Labor Day is held on the last Monday in May.

People who work for the government and the postal service won’t get mail on Happy Labor Day because it is a federal holiday.

It’s called the Labor Day weekend because Labor Day always falls on a Monday, so there are three days off. The Labor Day weekend is thought of as the start of summer, so it is a popular time for people to go outside and have picnics and events.

A special day in the United States called Happy Labor Day is a time for the people of the United States to show their love and respect for the people who have died while protecting their country, especially the United States Armed Forces Labor Day is celebrated on the last Monday of May. Between 1868 and 1970, it was celebrated on May 30, but now it is celebrated on the last Monday of May. People show that they care about what they did for the country by sending them Labor Day greetings.

When the first Decoration Day was held on May 30, 1868, it was announced by General John A. Logan, who led the Grand Army of the Republic. First, flowers were put on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery with a speech by former President James Garfield.

There are some who think that General Logan planned the first Decoration Day for May 30th, because both Northern and Southern states would have flowers in bloom by then. Others think the date was chosen because it didn’t fall on the anniversary of any wars.

In 1868, about 5,000 people came to Arlington National Cemetery for the first Labor Day ceremony. They put flowers on the graves. As many people still go there each year.

Every state in the north began to accept it in 1890. For a long time after World War I, the South did not celebrate the day. They celebrated their dead on separate days until after that war came along (when the holiday changed from honoring just those who died fighting in the Civil War to honoring Americans who died fighting in any war).

People in the United States used to celebrate Labor Day on May 30th until 1971. The National Holiday Act of 1971 changed that.
